eMail lists
eMail lists
As a community service to the residents of our community, I have created and maintain a series of email mailing lists. One mailing list is dedicated to the residents of Tollgate Crossing. Three serve our local Neighborhood Watch. (serving Tollgate Crossing, Sorrel Ranch, Wheatlands, Beacon Point, Southshore and Tallyn’s Reach), and another is reserved for commerce / business activities in Tollgate Crossing. All the mailing lists serve our community (See below for mailing list policy regarding ‘commercial solicitations’. See the Policy page for overall policies).
Cross Talk
<crosstalk-subscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>
<http://www.tollgatecrossing.org/mailman/listinfo/crosstalk>
The Tollgate Crossing mailing list is called ‘Cross Talk’. It is intended as an open forum for the residents of Tollgate Crossing. Any resident of Tollgate Crossing (or interested individual) is invited to participate. The mailing list is intended as a way for residents to communicate amongst each other on a variety of issues. Everything from the weather, a request for a babysitter, a discussion about putting up a fence, maybe you’d like to arrange a bunko night or suggest a good movie. Perhaps you’re wondering when the pool is open? Anyone and everyone (subscribed members) may use the list as an open forum for communication amongst the residents of our community.
It is not intended as a ‘to-do’ list for our HOA/Metro District managers/board members. Residents may discuss matters pertaining to HOA covenants or Metro District grounds maintenance, but if they have a specific problems that needs to be addressed, they should send an email to the appropriate manager/board member (see our Info page). Community managers may participate or monitor the list at their discretion. We have received assurances from some managers and board members that they will read/watch the traffic on this list, but that does not mean they must respond or participate in the discussion(s). In some instances, participation in a group discussion is considered a public meeting and not permitted outside official channels.
The mailing list works like this.. You subscribe/sign-up for the mailing list by sending an email to <crosstalk-subscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>. Alternately, you may sign up for a daily digest of all messages by sending an email to: <crosstalk-digest-subscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>. Make sure you send the email from an address where you are willing to receive email. Shortly after sending your subscription request, you will receive a confirmation email. Follow the instructions in the confirmation message, and your email address will be added to our mailing list. (Your email address will not be sold, leased, rented or otherwise disclosed to anyone outside the mailing list.)
Once you are subscribed, you will receive email from other list members, and you will be permitted to send email to the list. When you send a message to the list, everyone subscribed to the list will receive the email. Depending on the level of discussion, you may receive a lot of email. Please do not report these mailing list messages as ‘spam’. Doing so may result in problems with my email service provider, or other legal problems.
In order to send messages to all the other list members, address your email To: <crosstalk@tollgatecrossing.org>. Once you send the email, it will be distributed to everyone on the list. If you ‘Reply’ to a list message, everyone will see the response. If you wish to respond to an individual (not the entire list), please be sure to address your email to the From: addressee. Once again - A ‘Reply’ message will go to everyone on the mailing list. If you prefer, you can subscribe to a digest which accumulates all the weeks email into one message. To sign up for the daily digest, send an email to: <crosstalk-digest-subscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>. Then you will only get one email per day, regardless of the traffic on the list.
Who is on the list? Residents of Tollgate Crossing, their family and friends. Members of our HOA and Metro District board have indicated that they will monitor our mailing list traffic. Due to laws restricting ‘public meetings’, our Metro District board members may not participate in the public discussions on our mailing list. They may however respond to email that you address directly to them. Please see the Info page for contact information. Various members of our HOA and Metro District management do participate in the list(s), and they may directly participate in the ‘discussions’ on our mailing list.
As the list is currently unmoderated, I ask that you please consider your emails when communicating with other list members. If necessary, I will ban individuals from the list. I would prefer to have a ‘hands off’ approach - but I will not permit abusive language or commercial solicitation on the list (see below for policy on ‘commercial solicitation’).
If you have questions, concerns, or encounter problems with the mailing list/subscription. Please feel free to email our administrator directly (see below). If you would like to unsubscribe from the list, simply send an email to the unsubscribe address: <crosstalk-unsubscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>. If you are subscribed, and would like more information about the mailing list and it’s commands, send an email to: <crosstalk-help@tollgatecrossing.org>.
Neighoborhood Watch
(Serving Tollgate Crossing, Sorrel Ranch, Wheatlands, Beacon Point, Southshore and Tallyn’s Reach).
Our area Neighborhood Watch is served by three mailing lists. One is a private list, available to Watch Captains of Tollgate Crossing, a second is used to inform residents of the Tollgate Crossing community, and the third is an open list, available to any member of the community. The Neighborhood Watch serves several communities (Tollgate Crossing, Sorrel Ranch, Wheatlands, Beacon Point and Southshore), and these mailing lists allow us to effectively communicate with concerned citizens and watch/block captains. We use these lists in order to distribute safety and security related information for the communities listed above.
The first list - The entire Neighborhood Watch area
<neighborhoodwatch-subscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>
<http://www.tollgatecrossing.org/mailman/listinfo/neighborhoodwatch>
Membership is reserved and postings are moderated. This list is used by the Neighborhood Watch leadership in order to disseminate safety and security related information to the members of the list/community. Neighborhood Watch leadership will send email to all the list members by sending email to this list. Law enforcement authorities participate in and contribute to the information distributed on/by this list. It may contain information vital to the safety and security of our communities. I urge you to consider some involvement in our Neighborhood Watch. Even if you can’t volunteer as a block/watch captain, or help us with various events/activities, you are still welcome and encouraged to join our mailing list. It doesn’t cost a penny, and the benefits may help you prevent a crime or catch a crook.
If you would like to receive periodic updates, bulletins and information from our watch group, please subscribe to the neighborhood watch mailing list. Subscription to the list can be accomplished by sending an email to: <neighborhoodwatch-subscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>. Make sure you send the email from an address where you are willing to receive email.

If you have questions, or encounter problems with the mailing list/subscription. Please feel free to email our administrator directly (see below). If you would like to unsubscribe from the list, simply send an email to the unsubscribe address: <neighborhoodwatch-unsubscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>
The second list - Neighborhood Watch block captains
<watchcaptains-subscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>
<http://www.tollgatecrossing.org/mailman/listinfo/watchcaptains>
Membership is reserved. This list is used by the Neighborhood Watch block/watch captains residing in Tollgate Crossing. It is a two-way list. Allowing communication between all the watch/block captains. If you are a block/watch captain, your email address will be added to that email mailing list. The Head Area Coordinator (Judy Van Meter) provides the names of watch captains, and I add them to the subscription list manually. This list is used for communications that primarily concern watch captains. When to pick up and distribute flyers, organization of Neighborhood Watch events, etc. Please be aware that watch captains may be subscribed to multiple lists, and sometimes you may receive messages on more than one list. When replying to the watch captains mailing list, your response is sent to all the other watch captains. Any watch captain may initiate a message exchange/discussion on the watch captains mailing list.
The third list - Neighborhood Watch in Tollgate Crossing only
<tollgatealerts-subscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>
<http://www.tollgatecrossing.org/mailman/listinfo/tollgatealerts>

Even if you can’t volunteer as a block/watch captain, or help us with various events/activities, you are still welcome and encouraged to join our mailing list. It doesn’t cost a penny, and the benefits may help you prevent a crime or catch a crook.

To sign up for the daily digest, send an email to: <tollgatebusiness-digest-subscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>. Then you will only get one email per day, regardless of the traffic on the list.
Who is on the list? Residents of Tollgate Crossing, their family and friends. Residents who own a business here in Tollgate Crossing. Residents who own a business in our local community. Those who are interested in doing business with residents of Tollgate Crossing. You must own the business or the business must be located in Tollgate Crossing in order to promote your business on this list. Other residents may use the list to sell personal items, locate goods and services, or talk about business opportunities in Tollgate Crossing.
As the list is currently unmoderated, I ask that you please consider your emails when communicating with other list members. If necessary, I will ban individuals from the list. The list is focused on business in Tollgate Crossing.
If you would like to unsubscribe from the list, simply send an email to the unsubscribe address: <tollgatebusiness-unsubscribe@tollgatecrossing.org>. Regarding Commercial Solicitation on the Cross Talk mailing list (other mailing lists (other than the Tollgate Business list) will remain free of any commercial solicitations. The neighborhood watch mailing lists are focused on safety and security/neighborhood watch concerns, and should remain that way. No commercial solicitation of any sort on the Neighborhood Watch list(s)). If you are a Tollgate Crossing resident, and you would like to sell something (and it's not your personal business*); kind of like an on-line garage sale. I don't have a problem with that. If it's your personal business* (the way you make a living), then it's prohibited.
Got a couple of bicycles that your kids have outgrown? Need to clear out the garage - Want to sell that old lawnmower? Have an extra television that you don't need? Maybe someone will buy your sons previous generation iPod. You can 'publicize' this sort of stuff on Cross-Talk (You can post an initial offering price, but keep the specific negotiations off the list) mailing list. If you're a real-estate agent looking for clients, please don't use our list to advertise your availability/services on the mailing list. If it's your business* to clean homes or paint houses, then you aren't permitted to post an 'advertisement' or ‘commercial solicitation’ to the list.
I'll even permit postings in the nature of 'my daughter is willing to baby-sit' or 'my son would like to cut lawns for a few bucks' - Provided it's not your personal business* We’re not talking about a landscaping service here, we’re talking about neighborhood kids looking to make a few bucks mowing lawn.
In addition to posting used items for sale, Tollgate Residents may ask for recommendations, or post a ‘looking for’ query. If anyone asks, and you know a good - landscaper, painter, plumber, doctor, dentist, etc. I will permit an email indicating/endorsing the person/company and some contact information. What will not be permitted (regardless of whether your buying, selling or looking) is any discussion of prices, or negotiation of fees in the mailing list. If your trying to sell your sons two year old iPod, you can post an initial price, but you cannot negotiate the price on the list. Do that off the list.
Once again, you may not advertise any personal/commercial business on any list other than the ‘Tollgate Business’ list*. If I see activity which looks like MLM, your personal business* or any commercial venture, you may be removed from the list (other than the ‘Tollgate Business’ list) for cause. See our Policy page for more info. Under no circumstance will the website/mailing list administrator, owner, operator be responsible for any business dealings, negotiations, or deals gone bad.
* What do you mean by “not your personal business”: I’m talking about something you do to make a living, a primary source of income, or some business that produces a taxable income (whether or not you declare the income). Hopefully, you understand what I’m talking about. Selling a set of snow tires because you got bigger rims isn’t a ‘personal business’. Running ‘Tupperware Parties’ from your home is. Selling that old 40” television because you bought a new 60” flatscreen isn’t a ‘personal business’. Your four person landscaping company is. Your 15 year old son cutting lawns for some summer spending cash isn’t a ‘personal business’, but selling vendor supplied cleaning products is. If you have questions about this policy, feel free to email me.
Your Personal Business: Finally - You may advertise your personal business (if you’re a resident of Tollgate Crossing) through/on the Tollgate Business mailing list and website. See ‘Tollgate Crossing Business Directory’ above. Promote it, advertise, and discuss Tollgate Business opportunities on the ‘Tollgate Business’ mailing list. You must own the business or the business must be located in Tollgate Crossing’ in order to promote your business on this list.
